District III Central

District III is in the central part of Virginia hence our designation as Central. Our district is made up of nurses in the city of Lynchburg, and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell.

Meetings

Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month from January to May and then August through November. Business meetings at 5:30 PM Programs 4 times a year will follow the Business meeting at 6:30 PM. Meeting locations vary. Please email questions at least a week in advance of meetings to assure we have time to read your email.

All healthcare providers and students are welcome to attend our meetings. There is no fee to attend although we really welcome all RN's to join ANA and District 3 as members.

1. Define pharmaceutical compounding and how it is used to improve therapuetic outcomes
2. Identify service areas that utilize pharmaceutical compounding.
3. Describe dosage forms used in pharmaceutical compounding
4. Identify equipment used to compound pharmaceuticals
5. Describe safety and quality steps followed in a pharmacy compounding laboratory
6. Identify therapeutic agents, released in 2009, by class and indication
7. Describe important adverse effects and contraindications of therapeutic agents released in 2009
8. Identify pertinent dosing and administration of therapeutic agents released in 2009
9. Explain the role of the 2009 therapeutic agents in current pharmacotherapeutic regimens
