“The Voice for District IV Nurses”

District IV is one of the twelve geographic areas in the Commonwealth of Virginia designated by the VNA to provide members with local opportunities for involvement in the professional activities of the organization. This district represents registered nurses who live and/or work in the cities and counties of Southside Hampton Roads (including Suffolk, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Isle of Wright, Franklin, Greensville and Brunswick). District IV encompasses the largest naval port, the warm beaches, and lush farm country. Nurses in our region serve both urban and rural areas in a variety of healthcare and educational settings. District IV activities and strategic initiatives are designed to support and promote the mission and vision the VNA.

DISTRICT ACTIVITIES

District IV conducts four meetings per year that include an educational program and a general business session. The educational presentations are one hour in length and address both clinical and professional topics. The business session follows the program and is designed to communicate district activities and information relevant to nurses regarding practice issues, legislation, and workplace advocacy. The meetings are held on the third Thursday of the months of September, November, February and April. Dinner is available (at cost) at the September and April meetings. Meetings are open to all members, guests, and nursing students. The February meeting is dedicated to graduating nursing students and focuses on preparation for the transition from student to professional nurse. This event is usually attended by representatives of various health care agencies, military organizations and other potential employees.
Contact Christina Wray, Program Committee Chair, for meeting details, email: vnacommunications@gmail.com.
